A Spokesperson with Portage's Big Brothers Big Sisters says their major fundraiser over the weekend enjoyed a good turnout.

Dawn Froese says Bowl for Kids was well attended with many coming out from Portage and area to bowl for a good cause. Froese says the annual fundraiser did pretty well. Right now they're sitting at around $15,000. She says the total is a little lower than last year's numbers but concedes there is a lot happening in the community right now with other projects and organizations collecting donations. Froese expects more donations to trickle in over the next week or two and she's hoping they'll bring in around $17,000. This year's goal was $20,000. Froese says it was a lofty goal, however she points out they wanted to set the bar high for this charity event. Donations are being put toward monitoring Big Brother and Big Sister relationships as well as volunteer recruitment. She thanks the community for the support.
