It was a banner year for the Portage la Prairie Planning District. General Manager Kinelm Brookes talks about just how great the year was.

"2018 was a phenomenal year for us," says Brookes. "We had a record year on the value of the permits that we generated. It was over 100 million dollars for the year."

Brookes says with the amount of development going on in Portage, it has been hectic and challenging, but at the same time great to see the growth in the city.

"A couple of the highlights were Simplot and Roquette announcements," notes Brookes. "The apartments behind Oxford Commons, the ones on Dufferin, the yards on 4th and the new liquor store. Those are big projects for us. There were a few other ones that were fairly substantial also."

Brookes says they are looking forward to seeing what 2019 holds.
