Construction crews have been taking advantage of the nice weather and progress has been steady this month on Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage.

Brent Kellett of Stantec, the team in charge of the project is expecting even more progress this week.

Asphalt paving will start today for some of the Eastbound lanes in the area and sometime after 9 a.m. this morning, the intersections of 10th and 12th Street will be closed for the rest of the week at least.

Things will also be busy around 14th and 18th Street as crews will be grinding down some of the older asphalt to make is safer for traffic this winter.

Sidewalk paving will also continue in the area and teams will also start to clean things up in advance of winter.

Kellet says people should expect even more disruptions than usual this week and adds everyone is doing their best to work around the businesses and homes in the area.
