Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Central Plains held their annual general meeting Monday night, and it allowed the organization to bring some new faces on board.

Executive Director Dawn Froese says they fully anticipated holding their AGM in-person, but due to some of the would-be attendees being sick, they decided to move it to online so all could participate. She goes into detail on some of the new people joining up with BBBS.

"So our new president is Janice Laurent," notes Froese. "Our new vice-president is Rhonda Lyle, our secretary is Susan Mitchell, and our treasurer is Bryce Moar."

She adds, that on top of spending time introducing new members for the future, they spent a fair amount of time looking back at the accomplishments the organization had made in the past year. With COVID-19 shutting down in-person learning for schools, Froese explains they were happy to work with the number of children that they did.

"Certainly, one of the highlights was we were able to match 49 children or youth in a mentoring relationship," mentions Froese. "We didn't have access to schools like we had previously, so we were just really happy, and we're looking to increase that number this year."

She mentions she would love to have more volunteers and if you're interested in joining BBBS, click here for their website.
