It's back to planning for the RM of Victoria, as they look to address the wastewater needs of Cypress River and Holland. Reeve Harold Purkess says they were exploring an option to create a single lagoon to service the two community, but an estimated $8 million price tag has them reevaluating their plans.

"We just got the written copy of the study, and the engineers are going to come and explain it to us. From what we can see so far, the one lagoon for the two communities is going to be far too expensive, so we're going to start looking at different options."

He notes Cypress River and Holland both have lagoons in place, but they're unable to support the growth in the community, and there are also some environmental concerns.

"The one at Holland is too small and it's leaking. Cypress River is the same, it's leaking. They both need to be reconstructed somehow."

He says the engineers who'd conducted the feasibility study are expected to present the report to council, including some of their other options.

"We've got the engineer who did the study for us coming to present the whole package that he's drawn up. We'll move forward from there and see if we think we should explore some new sites closer to Cypress River and closer to Holland to do each one."

He says they originally believed the single lagoon would be the cheaper option, but decided to go back to the drawing board after seeing the high price tag.
