MCC in Portage la Prairie held Youth for Christ (YFC) Day on Tuesday, March 26th. $3,500 of the proceeds received on that day went directly to the YFC general fund.

Kevin Hamm is the general manager of MCC, and explains YFC Day has happened annually for the last eight years. He adds the partnership between the two organizations has been a good one. Over those eight years, $28,000 has been raised for YFC.

Hamm notes, as a part of the community, MCC likes to give back whenever they can, adding over the last ten years, MCC has partnered with 17 local charities holding special days for six or seven organizations a year.

Prior to MCC Day, a YFC shopping night took place Monday. The shopping night was a first for MCC, and the turnout was excellent, with about 90 people coming out to show their support. Hamm adds it was a fun evening, noting they even had a fashion show.

Paul Warthe is the office manager at YFC in Portage. He explains YFC Day at MCC is a tremendous source of assistance and encouragement.

Warthe believes these days, no organizations can get by without partnering with another organization. He adds MCC and YFC work well together because each organization has the desire to reach out into the community to make a positive impact. During YFC Day, employees were at MCC volunteering and Warthe reveals everyone was grateful to be able to give back.

The  general fund is the source of money for all the programs run by YFC year round.
