Strong winds and some very light snow made for hazardous road conditions Friday.

Strong northwesterly gusts associated with a cold front have swept through the province, creating a treacherous situation on highways through most of the day. 

As of late afternoon, the winds are still gusting however, things had calmed down enough that all closed highways in the province had reopend.

Blowing snow advisories and wind warnings are still in plac,e but conditions are expected to improve as the day moves along.

All closures were due to poor winter driving conditions due to blowing snow and poor visibility, with some wind gusts in the region topping the 80 km/h mark.
