With 2020 drawing to a close, many are taking a look back at the year that was.

Agassiz MLA Eileen Clarke knows this year was anything but normal with the surge of COVID-19. She says the pandemic wasn't the only thing to happen within the constituency.

"I know within the Agassiz constituency, we had extreme rainfall in early July, which affected a good part of this constituency. Neepawa and the surrounding municipalities went through extensive flash flooding. It was pretty devastating both emotionally for the residents, but also financially for the municipalities and for the province."

Clarke visited the regions affected multiple times with Minister Ron Schuler to meet with council members and dignitaries to discuss the situation. Clarke applauds residents for their resiliency.

"I have to say the communities coming together, working together, and supporting each other was absolutely overwhelming. The devastation was unbelievable, but they just pitched in, they all were helping each other, and it really brought back that sense of community."

Clarke says in 2021, the Conservatives will work on economic recovery and pleas for the public to get COVID-19 vaccinated. She wishes you a happy holiday.

"I know that a lot of people are hurting and disappointed. But you know what? We're going to come out better on the other side. I feel very strongly about that. I already know that 2021 is going to come with better news and better days ahead," says Clarke. I also want to thank all our health care workers, our teachers, and all those have that have worked so hard to keep people safe in the Aggasiz region."
