On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, a fire broke out at a house in Bagot, Manitoba.

Landon Thomson pulled up to the scene, and his heroics helped save lives. He regales us with the tale.

"I was driving by on the highway, and I saw their house was on fire. I pulled in and started looking in the window, and I could see someone moving around inside. I went around back and kicked the door down. By that time, there were three or four of us there that went in and helped the elderly couple out of the house safely."

Thomson noticed the fire at around 12:30 p.m.

The MacGregor Fire Department attended the scene at 12:55 p.m. and extinguished the fire.

Thomson says there was a lot of damage to the house.

"I think the whole north side is pretty much gone. I'm not sure what they salvaged from it, but it didn't look too good."

Thomson used to volunteer for the MacGregor Fire department, so doing this was second nature.

"To be honest, I didn't think about it. There were lots of people in the same boat helping each other out, and I'm just glad everyone got out safely."
