It was a fun, as well as an exciting weekend for the Portage Thunder Ringette Club as they held their annual tournament at the BDO Centre and Stride Place. This year 500 players came from across Manitoba to compete. Christianne Rosset is President of the Portage Club and shares her thoughts on the weekend:

"It was a great weekend," says Rosset. "Lots of happy girls playing ringette and lot's of action-packed games."

The Portage teams came away with 6 medals in total, 3 of them gold, coming from the U 10, U 12 Davis, and U 14 teams. Silver medals came from the U 12 Botteril, U 16 B, and U 19 B teams. Rosset says there was quite a bit of action:

"We had a couple games go into overtime in the gold medal matches, so we had a couple really exciting games."

She characterizes the weekend:

"People love this tournament," says Rosset. "We hear from our ringette teams in Winnipeg that they just love coming to Portage for our tournament and they have a great time at it every year. We didn't disappoint. Our Portage families came out and supported the tournament. It's one of our major fundraisers and we all had a lot of fun."

She adds it's great to be able to showcase the wonderful centre we have in Portage la Prairie and she's sure all the players had a ball.
