The latest report from the Portage la Prairie Planning District shows 11.8 million dollars in permits were issued for the month of October.

General Manager Kinelm Brooks says 2021 continues to look like an above-average year.

"Well, we had a total of 39 permits worth almost 12-million dollars," says Brookes. "We had ten new single-family dwellings, we had three multi-family dwellings and one double-family dwelling. That is nine-and-a-half million dollars there."

The remaining value comes from some repairs, some moving costs, and a new commercial space. The commercial space is valued at 800-thousand dollars.

"It is a base building for a 3-unit strip mall on the corner of 18th Street and Saskatchewan Avenue," says Office Manager Lynn Anderson.

Year-to-date, 2021 shows 49.7-million dollars in permits. The average year is a little over 50-million dollars, so with two months left to calculate, Brookes expects this year will be much higher.
