Ten years will now be known as the full tenure of Recreation Opportunities for Kids Central Executive Director Lynne Parker.

Parker says she's retiring sometime this fall and outlines how her involvement began.

"I started with ROK when it was just the R-O-C program which was back in 2010," says Parker. "So, it's ten years. And in 2015 is when we incorporated and became R-O-K -- ROK Central -- and became our own organization. It's been a whirlwind of ten years. It doesn't feel like ten years."

She notes she's loved every minute. Parker explains the board is now looking for a replacement and hopes they find someone soon.

"I've always said that this is not an ordinary job," adds Parker. "There are so many things. One minute you're putting a band-aid on some booboos, and the next time you're scrubbing the toilet or you're mopping the floor."

Parker says one highlight that's quite huge took place when they incorporated to become a charity and non-profit organization.

"Another huge highlight is our partnership with Manitoba Housing so we could actually have our offices, and I didn't have to work out of my home any more," adds Parker, "and also being able to open this up as an outreach centre in this area and provide services for families in need."
