The Portage la Prairie School Board received a plaque from the local chapter of Habitat For Humanity at their Thursday night meeting.

Assistant Superintendent Mike Mauws says it was in recognition of the work done by Portage Collegiate's Building Construction Trades students and staff on the latest build.

"They contributed a lot of their expertise, and time, and energy into this build, so they were a very major part of it. So it was nice to receive the plaque, and a letter recognizing the work that the students and staff put into it."

Mauws adds the School Board appreciates the honour.

"It's a real practical, hands-on activity for the students in terms of what they're training for. But at the same time, it's something that certainly benefits a family in the community, so it works."
