A family in Portage is now in their new house on 6th avenue, that was built by Habitat for Humanity. Yesterday, there was a celebration at the new house which included a bbq lunch and house dedication to welcome the Lilley family into their new home. Habitat for Humanity Steering Committee Chair Charlie Clifford says the family is very happy.

"The family has worked very hard for this house. They've done their sweat equity of 500 hours, which is a lot of time, within a year and they've had a lot of choices to make about what they wanted in their home. I've talked to the members of the family and they're so pleased about getting the house."

Clifford says this house is a little different than the ones they normally build.

"This is the first house where we've had the parents downstairs and the kids upstairs. There's some unique things they asked for; one of the girls didn't want a closet in her room."

Robert and Vicky Lilley, along with their two daughters Faith and Samantha, found out they were going to get a house in September. Robert comments on getting the new home.

"It felt like we won the lottery. The easiest way to say it is it's an amazing experience meeting all of the people that are willing to volunteer for total strangers. I just can't believe Portage is full of so many people that were willing to help us out like that."
