Sadly summer is beginning to wind down (hopefully not too quickly) but there are still a number of great things for you to check out in and around Portage. Here's some ideas for you this week:

- Congratulations to the Portage Padres who Tuesday night won game four of the Santa Clara Baseball League finals to win their first league championship! Absolutely wild game that even if you were there, it's still hard to believe the defecit they had to overcome to do it but it was a hard earned victory by the boys and well deserved. Read more about the game and see photos and videos here

- Stop by the Central Juried Art Exhibition at the Portage and District Arts Centre. They held it's grand opening last week and the 40+ selected pieces will be on display until September 3

- Looking for a spectacular read? The Spectacular Summer Book Sale is still on at the Portage Library with new items added daily. They're open Tuesday-Saturday, 10-8, 9:30-6 on Saturday

- Convention Corner is the place to be if you're looking for some local products. Farmer's Markets have been held there this summer with another one coming up Wednesday from 3:30-6

- Free + Swim may just be the greatest combination of two words ever. PRRA will hold another Wednesday night from 6 until 9, no charge for anyone so make good use of the slides, lazy river or just cool down in the pool

- Football is back in the form of the Portage Pitbulls. They held their season openers this past weekend at Republic Park and the teams are back at it this Sunday as the Bantams take on Eastside (11:30am start) and the Atoms V Eastman (@2)
