Central Plains Cancer Services (CPCS) was the beneficiary of a national fundraising campaign put on by Shopper's Drug Mart.

CPCS received a $2,826 contribution from Shopper's Drug Mart Portage la Prairie as part of the SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. campaign, which aims to supporting leading women's health organizations. Customers, staff and associate owners at Shopper's locations across Canada raise funds for the program through the purchase of Growing Women's Health paper icons.

"Shopper's chose us as a program that support's women's health," says CPCS executive director Sharilyn Knox. "Part of our mandate is definitely focusing on women's health cancer awareness and early detection."

"(This) will be fantastic because one of our focuses this year is bringing some new programs to Central Plains Cancer services," continues Knox. "We have talked about in the fall having a women's wellness event. We will earmark this money towards that, and we're looking forward to it."

According to information provided by Knox, since 2002, this fundraising program has raised more than $32-million for Canadian health charities, with 100 per cent of funds staying in the community where they are raised.
