It was perfect weather for Southport's 2nd Annual Tenants' Barbecue last night just outside of the Central Plains Rec Plex.

The folks at Southport also announced the winners of their Yard Beautification contest, with Rodney Ferh taking the top prize. Ferh outlines some of the work the judges must have noticed.

"We did a lot of landscaping and tiles, and completely just fixed up the whole side in front of the house. It's good, it gets people out there to take care of their yards, and to put some effort into it."

Fehr poses for a picture with Southport staff after winning first place.

Southport's Manager of Business Development Deanna Mitchell was impressed with everyone who participated.

"We're very proud of everyone that participated. It was a tough competition and the judges had a tough time choosing, but it's just great to drive around the site and see people taking pride in their yards, and what a difference it makes in our whole community of Southport."

Christine Dack took second place in the competition, and Bonnie Lyall was 3rd. Honorable mentions went to Kristine Fehr, Eileen Campbell, and Pam Leard.
