The weather's no friend of this weekend's 12th annual Western Canadian Pond Hockey Championship on Island Park in Portage la Prairie.

Environment Canada tells us temperatures will be well above freezing, which means outdoors rinks will become ponds in reality.

However, tournament organizer Travis Foster says they have a plan.

"We have blocked off some ice inside Stride Place," he says, "And we will continue to run it as a pond hockey tournament -- it'll just be indoors. We're going to do our best to utilize the ice outside. Whether that's Friday night or Saturday we're not sure yet , but we will run the tournament, regardless."

Foster stresses everything they planned for the tournament is a go.

"Everything else is up and running," he stresses, "We are running the weekend as it was scheduled. It would be great if temperatures were like it is right now, but this weekend, probably, the ice is not going to hold up for us."
