Unfortunately, this weekend will see the end of the higher than normal temperatures. Environment Canada meteorologist Natalie Hasell outlines what's bringing it about.

"We are looking at these above normal temperatures continuing into early next week," Hasell explains. "We have a low-pressure system that should come through the area late on Sunday, probably persisting into late Monday or early on Tuesday."

She explains it will gradually become colder Monday night or during the day on Tuesday. Hasell says you can take precautions common over the entire season, including dressing warm and keeping active in the cold. She adds you still have to pay attention to how you're feeling.

"Frostbite, hypothermia can happen at conditions that are not extreme," Hasell says. "You just need to be exposed for an extended period of time or in particular conditions. If you happened to be sopping wet for some reason you don't have to be in extreme conditions to risk frostbite or hypothermia. So, the same precautions exist. You still have to dress properly for the cold. You still have to pay attention to how you're feeling, making sure you're active while you wait for things."

Hasell recommends you don't just sit out in the cold, but pace back and forth if you're outside. If you start feeling symptoms of things like frostbite -- the tingly painful sensation in your skin starting to freeze -- seek shelter. It's best to find heated shelter, but at least shelter from the wind as a bare minimum. And if you get stranded with your vehicle anywhere, stay in the car.
