I.D. Week is being put on by the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation beginning December 2nd through to the 6th.

Indigenous Community Coordinator Cornell Pashe says a full week is dedicated to supplying Secured Certificate of Indian Status Cards to those in need. It was expanded for Social Security Numbers as well as Enhanced Secured cards, and you can help.

"For any event, we need volunteers," notes Pashe. "We would like to have at least 20 to 25 volunteers just to be part of those whole days. They're going to be long, because, when you look at December second and the third and the fourth, there's about four registry desks. There are cameras to take their pictures."

He says volunteers will work at those stations to help people out through the process. Pashe adds some people have never had any identification at all.

If you'd like to volunteer, contact the PCRC at (204) 240-7272.  Deadline is tonight (Wednesday).
