How to be a Friendship Ninja. That's what U-R Strong licensed presenter Meaghen Johnston explained today at la Verendrye School in Portage la Prairie during Friendship Day at the school.

(L-R) Principal Tracy Vanstone & Meighen Johnston"A day of friendship involves all of the students from grade 1 through to grade 6," says Johnston. " We're learning how to deal with friendships in healthy ways, and how to know what's normal in a friendship, and how to become what we call Friendship Ninjas. We have the practical skills and the language to solve problems, and to deal with conflict."

Johnston says she also explained how to stand up for yourself when you're in what they call a "mean-on-purpose" situation. She adds they want the students to know how to handle skills so they can move forward in life with any relationship.

She notes Tracy Vanstone was interested in the program's an international one extending into Australia, including workshops in Los Angeles, and in Winnipeg where she works. Community events also take place to involve kids. Johnston adds it's a fantastic opportunity for kids to learn early while they're still developing who they are in the world, and how they want to move through their lives. She adds it's all about, "making healthy choices about relationships, and being around people that make them feel good."
