The Portage Plains United Way's "Children's Christmas Carnival" is set for Saturday afternoon. Executive Director Mandy Dubois says this is a free event they hold every year as a way to say thank you to the community for all their support. Dubois notes there'll be face painting, hockey shootouts, snowball tosses, cookie decorating, and prizes for the kids to win. She says the United Way's eleven member agencies come out and host different activities and it's always a fun day. Dubois notes there is no admission charge and all the activities and refreshments are free, so they encourage all families to come down and get into the Christmas spirit.

She adds Santa Claus will also be on hand to visit with the kids. Dubois says because they don't have a photographer this year, folks are encouraged to bring their cameras or cell phones to take a picture of their little one sitting on Santa's knee. The Children's Christmas Carnival takes place at the PCU Centre on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m.
