The United Way Central Plains received a donation from Southport Aerospace Inc. today, just in time for the holiday season. The donation was in the amount of approximately $6,500 dollars.

Southport Chief Executive Officer Peggy May says the United Way is one of their primary recipients of donations. She notes much of the staff pitches in as well.

"The United Way is one of our key charitable organizations," says May. "Everyone at Southport strives to play a big part in the community in terms of supporting our charitable organizations. We work very hard to try and get every single one of our employees to participate. We are thrilled that we have 100% participation from our staff."

United Way Central Plains Executive Director Pamela Lotun notes the fact that so much of the staff at Southport is involved and that workplace donating is on the rise, means their message is being heard.

"It means that our message is getting out there," says Lotun. "Those people truly believe in what we are doing. Supporting ten agency partners in the community with sustainable funding year after year so they don't have to spend as much time and resources fundraising to make up for their financial needs. We're just really appreciative of those people who believe in our cause."
