The Transportation Safety Board continues to investigate an incident that took place near the community of Katrime last month, when a VIA Rail passenger train went off the rails.

The train was travelling at approximately 96 kilometres per hour, heading east from Churchill to Winnipeg, when the two head-end locomotives, a baggage car, and two passenger coaches derailed.

Both locomotive engineers, an on-board service employee, and two passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. An unknown amount of diesel fuel was released.

The TSB will not comment more on the matter until the investigation is complete.
