The RM of Portage la Prairie was notified of concerns from Rosedale Colony about a recent Trans-Canada Highway improvement issue. Reeve Kam Blight elaborates.

"One of our councillors has received some calls regarding concerns about the ditch work that's taking place along the Trans-Canada highway between Oakville and Elie. That's a project that was recently completed -- the re-paving and resurfacing of the Trans-Canada Highway -- and there's a lot of dirt."

Blight says the dirt's been piled along the bottom of the ditches.

"And it really impacts the drainage with neighbouring farmland that butt up to this Trans-Canada ditch. But apparently there is a piece of equipment in there that's bringing some of the dirt up and reshaping some of the shoulders. However, it's not doing a proper drainage job."

He adds they're making plans to resolve the situation.

"This is what has been brought forward to our attention. So, we're going to just try and get in contact with the province and just see what the plans are, and if there are any solutions to this matter. It's something we're going to look into right away."
