Make sure to stop in at the Glesby Centre Thursday morning to support the Salvation Army's Jingle Bell Breakfast in Portage la Prairie.

Major Brenda Coles says it's one of their key events that help them fill their hampers in time for Christmas.

"The community comes together, the school choir sings, CFRY hosts it with Ryan Simpson, and people bring non-perishable food and toys to the event and have a muffin and coffee and listen to the school choirs perform. It's a coming together to support the Christmas Hamper drive."

She says a lot of people rely on the support of the community during the holidays.

"We get a lot of toys from this event, which is crucial for the Christmas Hampers for the kids, and we also get a lot of non-perishable food which really helps fill hampers because we have over 500, close to 600 hampers that we need to supply food for, and many of those will have children. So it's a huge undertaking that we take on, but the community always pulls through."

It starts at 7:30 tomorrow morning.
