The Portage Friendship Centre's drive for school supplies for children in Portage la Prairie's winding down, and they could still use your help. Administrative Assistant Jaelin Way says they've extended the deadline this week.

"Our drive is almost done. It finishes this week. I think I'm going to let it go until Friday, which will actually be the 2nd of September instead of August 31st. I'll take donations up until the 2nd. The boxes are still out and they'll be picked up on Friday. They're at Mayfair Print Shoppe, RBC, Austin Credit Union, and Canadian Tire."

Way outlines some items they're lacking.

"We actually haven't seen too many, pens, pencils and crayons, and that kind of stuff. We have a lot of binders, backpacks, so that's been great. So, now I guess we need notebooks, pens and pencils. So far we haven't been too busy with the school supplies this year. It's starting to come in now since it's getting closer to September."
