An overnight storm has taken its toll on the region. Power was knocked out in Portage la Prairie at approximately 2:30 this morning. While much of the power downtown was restored before five o'clock this morning, Manitoba Hydro Workers are still working to restore power to the rest of the city.

The high wind speeds also resulted in a bit of a mess throughout the city. Leaves, twigs, and even some larger branches could be seen littering yards and sidewalks throughout the city, as well as some in the way on side streets.

Power failures have also been reported across southern Manitoba, with outages reported in many centres between Brandon and Falcon Lake.
