Last night saw the annual general meeting of the Prairie Players in Portage la Prairie. Long-time member Rosa Rawlings notes the changes that took place with the 13 in attendance.

(L-R) Rosa Rawlings & Stephanie Kauffman"Nominations are usually taken for various positions that come up every year. This year it was president and vice president came up. Secretary Treasurer is still going to be the same. So, Stephanie Kauffman is the president this year. She's going to stay on as president, and I'm going to be vice president."

Rawlings explains her 25 years has included her acquisition of the presidency and vice presidency twice, as well as secretary. She's performed as an actor, directed and produced several performances. Rawlings attributes her long-time involvement to her great love for theatre.

She outlines the veterans of the troupe: "Terry Tully, he's been there forever," says Rawlings. "Connie Krawec hasn't come around very much lately, but she's been there. Keith Burch has been around for a while."

"The members there are really great," Rawlings says. "It's always changing but we still have our founding members. But we always get new people and that's great because it keeps it going."

Next on their agenda for performances is their spring production comprised of two plays this year. The first play takes place in its entirety before intermission and is called 'Let Them Howl,' and it's about Nellie McClung and the vote. The cast for that performance is quite a large one. The second play is currently being written by a PCI student, and it's about senior safety with a bit of humour in it. Carolyn Gray from the Glesby Centre's the director, and she's helping to write it as well. That performance takes place April 27-29.
