The City of Portage la Prairie has expanded its sidewalk snow clearing program. Councillor Melissa Draycott says council passed an amendment to include the asphalt and concrete extensions which were put in place along Fisher Avenue and 18th Street North West from Saskatchewan Avenue to McKay, as well as Gigot Avenue from 18th Street North West to 13th Street North West. Draycott notes the city put in those new sidewalks last summer to improve safety for citizens in that area, so they had to amend their sidewalk snow clearing policy to include the extensions. She reminds everyone that city crews are working as diligently as they can to remove the snow, adding between streets and sidewalks they do have a very large area to clear. Draycott says priorities have been put in place and crews will continue on as time permits.
