RCMP received several calls regarding theft in Portage la Prairie March 19.

"Portage la Prairie RCMP received four calls of shoplifting from businesses in Portage la Prairie," says Media Liaison Officer Constable Larry Neufeld. "The incidents occurred in the 100-block and the 300-block of Saskatchewan Avenue East, the 200-block of Saskatchewan Avenue West and the 2200-block of Saskatchewan Avenue West."

He says RCMP has videos and photos of the individuals and that the investigation is ongoing.

Neufeld says another call for shoplifting took place two days later on March 21 at the 2100-block of Saskatchewan Avenue West involving a different suspect. Photos of that theft were then supplied to the RCMP the next day. Neufeld says the suspect in the photos was a person already in custody for unrelated matters.

"A 37-year-old female from Winnipeg was arrested for shoplifting," continues Neufeld. "She's also facing charges of another incident where she is charged with failing to comply with a release order, resisting arrest, two counts of uttering threats, and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime. She will appear in court at the next court sitting."
