If you're looking for some good bargains on Black Friday, it's important to try your local businesses first. That's the message from the Portage la Prairie Chamber of Commerce, and Chamber Vice-President Preston Meier says Black Friday kicks off the holiday season for many folks as they start their shopping. Meier notes they certainly hope people in Portage and district will support our local retailers and business owners throughout the year and especially during this busy shopping season. He says the Chamber understands that there may be some things which aren't available here in town, adding they encourage folks to talk to store owners to see if perhaps they can bring in the desired item for you.

Meier notes Black Friday has become even bigger in Canada than Boxing Day, so it's a very important time for most businesses. He adds anything you can do to support our local merchants in any way, shape or form is greatly appreciated.
