Following a shooting on Thursday, April 7th at approximately 4:30 a.m., the arrest of Irvine William Tyson Pashé took place at about 1:20 p.m. at Dakota Tipi First Nation.

RCMP just issued a notice of charges laid.

Today, April 9th, 2016, Irvine William Tyson Pashé, 31, of Dakota Tipi First Nation has been charged with:

  • Two counts of attempted murder
  • Breaking and entering with intent to commit
  • Uttering threats
  • 5 firearm related charges

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on April 11th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

Charges are not yet finalized against a 31 year-old Dakota Tipi First Nation's man, in connection with two shootings this morning on the First Nation. At around 1:20 this afternoon, police were in involved in a short foot-pursuit leading to the arrest of Irvin Tyson William Pashé. RCMP Sergeant Bert Paquet's thanking the police agencies involved in the manhunt, which lasted almost nine hours, as well as the residents who provided tips.

"We also want to express our most sincere thank you to the Dakota Tipi First Nation Community for their assistance in ensuring the movements of our officers were kept secret, and ultimately for the tips we received that led to the suspect's arrest."

The nine-hour search had residents locked down in the homes and were advised to keep away from windows. Traffic was also prohibited from entering or leaving the community. While Pashés been arrested, Paquet says they're still asking the public to stay indoors.

"We're asking residents of the community to limit their movement and remain in their homes as much as possible. If they do move at some point during the afternoon or evening, they should follow the officers' direction and not approach crime scenes that are being processed."

The investigation into the incident's continuing, and Paquet says they have yet to determine the motive behind the incident.

"We'll need to speak with victims as well as witnesses as the next steps of our investigations take place to establish a motive. It's too early to say at this time."

The two adult victims, a male and female from Dakota Tipi remain in serious condition.
