***UPDATED***

The westbound Trans Canada Highway just west of Portage la Prairie, near Bagot, was blocked for about five hours this morning, as a result of a semi-trailer rollover around 6 o'clock.

The vehicle ended up on its side, blocking both lanes of the highway.

Portage RCMP Constable Sean O'Keefe tells us police believe driver error is likely responsible.

"From all indications, what we've been able to look at from the scene, was that the truck left the driving portion of the roadway, would have caught the gravel and the driver would have over-corrected for his actions."

O'Keefe notes It's not certain yet whether any charges will be laid.

"Obviously, the driver's record will probably be a factor here. If there are other incidents that are reported to us, we'll definitely look at following up with charges in that respect. I would consider that since the only property damage in this incident was to the truck itself, that they were driving, and that there were no serious injuries, this is a possibility that no charges will come of it."

The driver and co-driver suffered minor cuts and bruises. The detour in the area is still in effect.

HAZMAT crews were on scene, cleaning up the debris.
