On Friday evening, Selkirk RCMP responded to a call about a 64-year-old man in cardiac arrest. Once they arrived, the man was pronounced dead on the scene. This death is now being treated as a homicide. Selkirk RCMP along with the RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.

Meanwhile, an investigation's underway by the Teulon RCMP detachment, following the shooting death of a 20-year-old woman from the RM of Armstrong late Saturday night.

The Mounties say the victim was found wounded in a vehicle on PR 231, in the RM of Gimli.

She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died shortly afterward.

A 23-year-old man's been arrested and remains in custody.

The police aren't looking for any other suspects, and don't believe the incident's gang or domestic related.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is involved in the investigation.

Teulon RCMP Investigation UPDATE

Investigation has determined that an altercation had broken out at a bar in Fraserwood earlier in the evening. When the altercation escalated, the establishment closed and customers left.

A male, who had been at the establishment, left and drove approximately two miles south of Fraserwood on Road 11 East (also known as Kuz Road) in the RM of Armstrong. He parked his vehicle, and when three vehicles belonging to patrons from the bar passed the suspect, he fired on them with a rifle. Multiple shots were fired by the male towards the vehicles.

The male fled the scene and, with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services and Winnipeg Police Service’s Air 1, was arrested in a field near Gimli, Manitoba. Jesse Paluk, 23, is charged with Second Degree Murder, Attempt Murder x 7, Discharge Firearm at Motor Vehicle with Intent to Wound x 3, Reckless Discharge of Firearm x 3, and Assault with a Weapon.

Paluk remains in custody to appear in Winnipeg court on November 20, 2018.

The investigation continues.
