MPs returned to Ottawa today for the start of the next session of Canadian Parliament. MP for Selkirk-Interlake-Eastman James Bezan is glad to be back at the House of Commons and expects a busy session.

Bezan says there's a lot of issues Manitobans are worried about. Top of that list, not surprisingly, is U.S. president Donald Trump.

"I think a lot of (Manitobans) are going to be interested to see what happens between Ottawa and the new Trump administration in Washington," Bezan says. "How NAFTA changes and how that impacts upon our grain, oil, seed and livestock producers, as well as our manufacturers and exporters, is something that is a great concern to our entire region."

"Those making their living off of the commercial fishing business in Lake Manitoba, Lake Winnipeg, and Lake St. Martin are waiting to see what the federal government is going to do with the decision by the province of Manitoba to pull out of the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation, and how soon that can happen," continues Bezan. "Heavy snow pack and high precipitation in Manitoba, and potential for flooding in the Red River Valley, the North Red, and now the Assiniboine and around Lake Manitoba is weighing heavy on everyone's minds and we want to make sure that Ottawa is there to support the province and municipalities that could be dealing with flood-like conditions."

Bezan adds as Conservatives they'll continue to fight those issues and stand up to fight for the taxpayers to make sure this Liberal Government moves forward and tries to create some jobs to help Canada's economy and be responsible with how they're spending our tax dollars.
