The annual Portage Friendship Centre's school supply drive is going slower than normal.

Coordinator Jaelin Way says they've received a few donations, but would like to have the donation boxes filled a few more times before before the end of the month. She explains what supplies are still needed.

"Binders, shoes, and backpacks are our big thing. Markers and crayons and pens we get a lot of, but we prefer to go with loose leaf and binders and shoes. But of course, anything is appreciated."

She explains you can help out by bringing donations to the Friendship Centre or dropping them off in the boxes located around town.

"They are at Mayfair, Canadian Tire, Austin Credit Union and RBC Bank. So they can take them there or they can bring anything here and drop it off, or I can pick it up. Sometimes we get cash donations, and at the end of the month we go out and buy supplies and take that over as well."

The supply drive will continue until the end of August. The supplies will be turned over to the Portage School Division for distribution.
