The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre's (RMTC) tour stops in Portage la Prairie tomorrow.

RMTC will perform Arlene Hutton's Last Train to Nibroc, a romantic drama stage play set back in the 1940s that centres around a young military serviceman and a small-town Kentucky girl, at the William Glesby Centre Tuesday night.

"It's the first play we've had in our season. We've done some really great concerts, but this our only professional stage production," says Glesby Centre executive director Carolyn Gray. "It's quite an opportunity for the community to see a play that they would (normally) have to drive into Winnipeg to see. It's coming right to our doorstep here in Portage."

Portage is the second stop on RMTC's 2017 regional tour, which hits many towns in Manitoba and northern Ontario from Jan. 30 to March 4.

"They are the most successful theatre in Canada," Gray says. "Their quality is absolutely the best and they are known for making really beautiful travelling shows throughout Manitoba. And we're lucky enough to get this one."

"It's quite a privilege."

Tickets are still available for RMTC's show. It's scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. More information is available here.
