The Portage Rotary Club's annual used book sale wrapped up on Saturday with approximately $2,500 worth of books sold.

Book sale co-chair Derek McCutcheon explains what the money from the sale will go toward.

"This actually is part of what we use to pay for our commitments to things like Rotary Republic of Manitobah Park, to the PCU Centre, as well as our exchange student, as well as the things that we typically do in your community."

Rotary member Joyce Schrader volunteered at the sale and says the support has been wonderful.

"We've has lots of people come through here. It's amazing, as I go through the books myself there's a great selection. Lots of support for the sale and that's wonderful too."

McCutcheon says they're really happy with how the sale turned out.

"We're really happy with the support of the people of Portage. We're thankful to the Mall and all the people that donated to us."

He adds they hope to see everyone again at next year's book sale.
