Cobalt Industries in Portage la Prairie won the Recreation Opportunities For Kids' 50/50.

Owner Clint Taylor was presented with a $13,287 cheque and says winning came with some shock and surprise.

"You never really expect to win something like this," says Taylor. "We got involved because of some community rivalry that was brought forth by Gil Rouire at Point West Electrical Mechanical Services. They brought us in."

"I think it's great for Clint and Cobalt Industries," says ROK Recreation Supervisor Lynne Parker. "They stepped up and took on a challenge that Gil had thrown out. Just having organizations step up like that is great. Cobalt stepped up and paid $500 for their tickets and I'm happy for them. I hope he spends it wisely, or unwisely, however he wants to spend it."

Parker's still shocked they were able to raise over $26,000 in like three weeks, and she's thrilled to have $13,287 coming back to ROK. "That's going to go so far in ensuring our programs can continue."

As for Cobalt's cash, "We do not know what we're going to do with it yet," says Taylor. "Plans are still in the works as to where the money will be going. I'm still learning a bit more about ROK. I'm not too familiar with it but it's a great thing as far as supporting young kids getting involved in sports who aren't able to."
