The RM of Victoria was without what was later realized to be somewhat of an integral artery for a time. Reeve Harold Purkess says they're quite relieved the bridge on Highway 34 over the Assiniboine River is reopened.

"It's fantastic," exclaims Purkess. "We have people that commute every day both directions to work. Some from this side of the river work on the north side, and vice versa. It really showed how important that bridge was when it was closed for those seven days."

During its closure, Purkess says they were extremely appreciative of the cooperation from the Municipality of North Norfolk's fire department and emergency crews. The bridge was closed from Saturday, February 18 and opened sooner than expected on the 24th. Purkess adds the municipality's only cost was its inconvenience.
