The RM of Grey's planning to purchase a second backhoe, and the associated bylaw was just given first-reading this past week. Reeve Ray Franzmann elaborates.

"We bought two lightly used ones," he says. "We traded in our five-year-old unit on the first one. We've taken delivery for that one. The second one is the one on the borrowing bylaw. That backhoe comes in at around $247,000."

Franzmann says drainage work's being increased to work with two backhoes now, which is new for this year. The public's invited to come and talk about it at a future council meeting. Franzmann adds a lot of voices have been heard over the last while whenever fields weren't draining and ditches haven't been cleaned on a regular basis. He adds council got the message quite clearly.
