Waterline expansion in an area west of St. Eustache in the RM of Cartier is moving ahead.

RM of Cartier Reeve Dale Fossay.

The 30 day review period allowing ratepayers to submit concerns to the muncipal board following a Sept. 12 public hearing passed. Reeve Dale Fossay says only two objections were sent in, allowing the $3-million project to proceed to tender.

Fossay says this will deliver running water to about 45 homes.

"That area of our municipality, very few have access to well water, virtually all of it is hauled in by truck," Fossay says. "Hopefully it will create a more modern area. Having piped water into your house is something many people take for granted, but it will be welcome news for those receiving it."

The federal government will cover 50 per cent of the costs through the Build Canada Fund, and the province's share is 25 per cent. Fossay says the project must be completed by March 2018 in accordance with the federal funding agreement.
