Those looking to make Portage la Prairie a better place can receive support from the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation. They're accepting the final round of applications for the year for the Revitalize Portage Grants. The grants provide community groups or organizations with up to $5,000 for ongoing initiatives, or $2,500 for single day events. Community Facilitator Victoria Olson says these grants are always appreciated by local organizations and have funded a wide variety of initiatives in the city.

"Most recently we had Concerts in the Parks, the La Verendrye Breakfast Program, Soup for Learning and North Memorial School. As you can see Concerts in the Park, and breakfast pro grams are vastly different, so people can apply for anything in between. The options are pretty much endless."

The deadline for the grants is set for October first, but organizations are asked to get their applications in sooner, rather than later. Olson notes this latest application will help fund activities or initiatives starting between October and next March. The grants have been a part of the PCRC for about seven years, funding numerous events and initiatives in the city. Olson says over the years this funding has really made the city a better place.

"So many of them have already made Portage a better place. All of these projects and programs happening across the city that have been funded by Revitalize Portage have made a huge difference. We're really excited to keep this going."

Olson notes anyone with questions on the grants can contact the PCRC office. The application forms can also be picked up at the office, or found for the PCRC website.
