A group of concerned citizens recently approached the Municipality of Westlake-Gladstone council with questions about the water levels in the Whitemud River. Mayor David Single says there's a dam just east of Gladstone which has been in place for many years, noting Manitoba Infrastructure did some work on it a year or two ago. Single says the logs weren't fitting in properly so there was some leakage and water levels were a bit lower than they should have been. He notes they've addressed the problem and the levels are now up, adding the concerned citizens just wanted to know if this would be an ongoing issue and what the procedure was to get Manitoba Infrastructure involved.

Single says the municipality's Public Works foreman talks to the people at Manitoba Infrastructure all the time and they've worked out the proper procedures, noting it's now just a matter of making sure the problem is solved. He adds until the water slows down it's hard to know, but if it happens again they'll be on top of it right away.
