Portage la Prairie RCMP are still trying to identify those responsible for damaging Rotary Republic Park last weekend.

Vandals wrecked one soccer field by driving a vehicle on it in damp conditions. The grass was ripped up over a large area by the car's tires, cutting several donut-shaped marks into the field.

"We're still looking for the community's help in trying to solve this one," says RCMP community liaison officer Const. Sean O'Keefe. "We have received a couple of tips, but we encourage everybody, if they do know who might be responsible for this incident to make use of the Crime Stoppers help lines."

"This is something that we're taking very seriously," continues O'Keefe. "There was a significant amount of damage to the fields that will cost people a lot of money to repair properly."

The Portage Regional Recreation Authority also has a $1,500 reward posted for any information that leads to charges being laid against the culprits. Anyone with information can contact their local police detachment, or make an anonymous tip through Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
