The RCMP arrested two suspects wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last week in Portage la Prairie.

Four suspects were wanted and at large after a violent armed robbery on Hazel Bay in Portage on March 9, when police said two victims were threatened with firearms and one attacked with a machete.

Police say in a release, on Saturday morning at 4:24 a.m. Portage RCMP spotted a vehicle believed to be involved in the March 9 incident. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled, and one of the 14-year-old male youths allegedly involved in the robbery escaped on foot.

RCMP caught up to the vehicle a short distance later after it became stuck near Southport. Five other occupants were located inside, including Justice Marie Daniels, 18, and the other 14-year-old male youth involved in the armed robbery. Police say other occupants in the vehicle included two female youths and 18-year-old Nathan Rusty Wolfe.

During the stop, RCMP located weapons in the vehicle, including the machete believed to have been used in the armed robbery. All five occupants in the vehicle were arrested by RCMP.

Both Daniels and Wolfe were charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of Weapons for a Dangerous Purpose as well as failing to comply with court-imposed conditions. Daniels and Wolfe, along with the captured 14-year-old male were remanded in custody.

Investigators are still looking for the second 14-year-old male and Myles Dean Asham, 19, involved in the March 9 incident.
