***UPDATED***

Two people are in custody, and a third is being sought by the RCMP, following a car chase early this morning, in city's northwest corner.

RCMP Constable Sean O'Keefe tells us it started just before 8 o'clock at 18th Street West and Saskatchewan Avenue, when a Mountie stopped at the traffic light.

"When he observed a car coming from Crescent Road. The vehicle was approaching the intersection, and it decided to come to a stop at a green light. The vehicle continued through the intersection. The officer followed, and then as it crossed over the train tracks just north of McKay Avenue, the car accelerated very quickly and tried to make the turn onto the road going into WalMart (Park Drive). The driver lost control, and ended up in the ditch."

That's where two people were taken into custody. O'Keefe says they may face a long list of charges.

"Possession of stolen property, as the vehicle, we believe, is stolen. Also, breaches of conditions for release. The two people we have in custody, we believe do have court-imposed conditions. Multiple driving offences under the Highway Traffic Act, and potentially under the Criminal Code as well. If anyone has seen this vehicle before, and knows any other information regarding it, we encourage them to call us."
