RCMP Investigate Suspicious Death (Update)

Police have released a few more details surrounding an investigation into a suspicious death in Portage la Prairie. RCMP indicate a call came in around eight o'clock this morning, regarding a man found unconscious outside a residence on First Street North West, just north of the BDO Centre.

Upon arrival, paramedics determined the 20-year-old male from Portage la Prairie was deceased. Investigators also attended a second location at the corner of First Street North West and Lorne Avenue West, as it was believed that the two locations were connected.

RCMP Forensic Identification Services from Brandon have gathered evidence at the scenes, and the chief medical examiner's office has requested an autopsy. Police say both will be working to determine the cause of death. While the matter is still under investigation, the RCMP believes there's no concern for public safety at this time.

RCMP are expected to release more details after their investigation and autopsy are completed.
