Four suspects allegedly involved in an armed robbery in Portage la Prairie Thursday remain at large.

Mounties say in a release Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery on Hazel Bay at 8:48 p.m. Thursday night. Police say it appears two victims were threatened with a firearm and one was attacked with a machete, sustaining minor injuries. The suspects fled the scene in a stolen SUV, described by police as a white 2014 Ford Escape with a Manitoba license plate of HGC 894.

Justice Marie Daniels, an 18-year-old female, Myles Dean Asham, a 19-year-old male, and two 14-year-old youths known to police are all wanted in relation to this incident.

“We believe that the victims in this incident were targeted by their assailants. We don't believe this was a random act,” says Portage la Prairie RCMP Const. Sean O'Keefe. “But we do want to stress that anyone armed with a weapon is a risk to the public. We want to make sure everyone is aware of the danger and ask that they do not approach the accused, or the vehicle if they see it, just contact the RCMP immediately.”

“We don't believe there is an inherent risk to the public,” continues O'Keefe. “But we do want to stress coming in contact with anybody when weapons are involved could be dangerous.”

The four suspects are all known to reside in or around the Portage la Prairie area. All are facing criminal charges of Robbery with a Firearm, Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and other various breaches of court-imposed conditions.

Investigators believe the suspects are in possession of weapons and could be a risk to public safety.
